A new year’s day

A new year’s day.

01/01/2010.  I guess many new years passed by, since our birth. What makes this day special is the date. We figure out that we need some days to get used to writing the new year every time we happen to write the date (atleast for me).  A new year’s day is special worldwide ,  thanks to the Gregorian calender. There is more to New year, we kind of start thinking of better ways of living ahead. Yeah, I am taking about the resolutions. I have always thought I would write a diary just days before start of new years. Damn, I am not persistent in the habits, my Achilles heel. There are several other resolutions like Get busier, Be pro-active, Reduce weight etc. Taken from a popular site:

Popular New Year’s Resolutions

  • Lose Weight
  • Manage Debt
  • Save Money
  • Get a Better Job
  • Get Fit
  • Get a Better Education
  • Drink Less Alcohol
  • Quit Smoking Now
  • Reduce Stress Overall
  • Reduce Stress at Work
  • Take a Trip
  • Volunteer to Help Others
  • Health-e-Cards for Holidays and New Year

Recent research shows that while 52% of participants in a resolution study were confident of success with their goals, only 12% actually achieved their goals. Men achieved their goal 22% more often when they engaged in goal setting, a system where small measurable goals are used (lose a pound a week, instead of saying “lose weight”), while women succeeded 10% more when they made their goals public and got support from their friends.
P.S. A definitive approach helps find our resolutions to the positive way of living. Bless them those who have hundreds of resolutions to start the year with, they lie on their brains and not on the actions. Wishing you a happy new year once again fellas. Good bye
